BERLAND is proud to be an ACR-Accredited
mammography facility. We care about each and every patient and take
the necessary steps to ensure a pleasant, comfortable experience.
Mammography is a safe, low dose x-ray picture of the breast that allows early detection of breast abnormalities or cancer. In a screening mammogram, images are taken from two angles of each breast. A diagnostic mammogram requires more angles and is requested if there is a concern or implants.
Prior to your mammogram visit, we ask that you do not use any deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under your arms or near the breast. For your test, the technologist will lead you to the changing area where you will be provided with a drape and a place to secure your valuables. During the exam, the technologist will position you in front of the mammography machine and compress the breast. You will feel slight pressure while the technologist takes the mammogram. This procedure should take approximately 15 minutes.
The technologist processes the films and our radiologist reads your films while you wait. If additional views are needed, the technologist will let you know. Berland
offers diagnostic mammography if/when needed as well as breast ultrasound.
You may be asked to provide us with the names of other imaging centers where you have had prior mammograms, so we may obtain films for comparison.
